teachers of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) conducted a series of public classes in Plaza de Mayo, in the framework of the strike carried out by professors univers itarios across the country, by wage claims.
The activity, which will last until 19:00, is promoted by Association Gremial Docente AGD-UBA, and has the support of the University Federation of Buenos Aires (FUBÁ).
In this regard, the President of the FUBÁ, Julián Asiner, declared: “we mobilised by the triumph of the public University against Mauricio Macri adjustment and to repudiate the violent police eviction of the Faculty of law of the University of Cordoba, with the only to avoid that a student Assembly was completed”.
“If Macri plan to address the University crisis with repression will only to accelerate the collapse of his Government. The public University and the right to freedom of organization and struggle are inalienable conquests, that students and teachers are willing to defend in the streets,”emphasized the official.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education convened for next Monday to six unions of university professors to resume the joint.
The meeting will be held in the Sarmiento Palace and will be headed by the Minister of education, Alejandro Finocchiaro, and the Secretariat of University policy, Danya Tavela, who will receive leaders of trade unions Conadu, historical Conadu, FEDUN, CTERA, UDA and FAGDUT.
The wage conflict generated that classes at universities were paralyzed most days since the start of the second semester, at the beginning of this month. University professors are unemployment and from Tuesday morning. The Government offered teachers a salary increase of 15% in three installments, but unions claim to an improvement of 35%.
