Paul McCartney today released his solo album, entitled Egypt Station, 17avo, which critics around the world already praised as a stellar addition to its unparalleled catalogue.
He is the first material with new music by McCartney since the international success “NEW” in 2013. The album was recorded between Los Angeles, London and Sussex, and produced (with the exception of a song by Ryan Tedder) by Greg Kurstin (Adele, Beck, Foo Fighters).
About the enigmatic title of the album, Paul aseuguro: “I liked the words. It reminded me the albums that we used to do. Egypt Station begins at the station with the first station and then each song is like a different station. He then gave us the idea of basing all songs on that. I consider it a place of dreams”.
Faithful to the inspiration behind his title, the 14 songs of Egypt Station combine to convey an atmosphere of travel. Among the instrumentals of opening and closing “Station I” and “Station II”, each song is Paul capturing a place or time before transporting the listener to the next destination.
The artist presented his new album | Photo: Twitter @PaulMcCartneyLas stops along the way include an acoustic meditation on the current satisfaction (“Happy With You”), a timeless anthem that would fit virtually any album any time McCartney (“People Want Peace”), and an epic multi-movement closer seven minutes with a structure’s suite of songs dating back to the days of the previous combo of Paul (“Despite Repeated Warnings”).
The result is a kaleidoscopic journey through myriad scenarios and times music, but firmly rooted in the here and now, with the singular unmistakable melodic and lyrical sensitivity of Paul that serves as a guide.
Paul began the journey to Egypt Station with its appearance in Carpool Karaoke with James Corden, who since then has established the record for most viewed video on the night on Facebook, with more than 100 million views.
