translated from Spanish: Radiation from cell phones could cause cancer, says American Research

photography / Internet United States.-us researchers have presented new evidence that radio waves used in the 2G and 3G mobile phones can cause cancer of the heart, liver and certain other organs, according to the National Institute of Sciences of environmental health in the United States.
According to the scientific journal EurekAlert, John Bucher, senior scientist of the national program of Toxicology (NTP, for its acronym in English), said: “the exhibits used in the studies cannot be compared directly with the exhibition experience the humans using a cell phone”.
“In our studies, rats and mice received radio frequency radiation throughout the body. On the contrary, people mostly apply phone to a specific point in your head. In addition, levels of exposure and the duration of our studies were greater than those who often experience people”, he added.
Two years ago, NTP participants published an article about the first results of experiments on the effects of radiation from mobile phones in the organism of the rats. The results indicated that the phone radiation produced malignant tumors: glioma in brain and neurilemomas (shwannomas) in the heart.
Scientists criticized the study, some qualified the conclusions exaggerated and frightening; others, found many methodological problems in the publications of the NTP.
Bucher and his team conducted a new series of experiments involving two hundred mice and lab rats, initially susceptible to the development of cancer. They lived in a special cage that mimicked the performance of antennas for mobile phones, and some of them began to be exposed to radio waves still in utero, while others, at a mature age.
The scientists divided animals into several groups, each of which received a different radiation doses, beginning with the maximum allowed for mobile phones and ending with levels that exceeded a 3 or 4 times this figure. Some mice and rats lived in these conditions for about a month, and others, for about two years.
According to the results, the exposure of animals to radio waves with a frequency of 900 and 1,900 megahertz “showed clearly that these forms of radiation, encoded in a mobile format, are carcinogenic”. The scientists observed the emergence of an amount significantly greater than tumors in the body – especially in the heart, brain and liver – of these mice and rats than in the control group.
However, inconsistencies criticized by other scientists are still present: the animals lived longer exposed to radio waves which in normal conditions, and the number of tumors did not change much to increase the dose of radiation. This was especially noted in the study of radiation 3 G. considering the above, is probable that the scientific community skeptical new publications of the NTP to the of two years ago. Participants in the program are planning to conduct another series of experiments to determine how to change the speed of accumulation of mutations in the DNA of rodents and often are other traces of cancer.
