“The prevention of psychiatric pathologies in Chile, has multifactorial causal factors, thus also, its prevalence has close relationship with the social determinants in health.” That is why, the best way of preventing diseases of mental health is through the development of public policies that enable a comprehensive approach, as for instance health promotion programs”, explains José Ignacio Martínez, academic faculty nursing of the Andres Bello.
The UNAB expert stresses that “non-adherence to the treatment of persons with psychiatric pathologies, brings as a consequence cost physical, social, family, economic, among others. Accordingly, we note that the abandonment of pharmacological treatments such as non-pharmacological brings variable consequences on the person”.
