A critical reflection on the State of emergency in the contemporary world and the possibility of extinction of the planet as the space that we conceive traditionally, is carrying the Canary artist through a series of installations that demonstrate the split the individual with nature and its inability to exist freely and individually.
A vast, desert and indeterminate landscape in the middle of which a black flag as a proposal of a new territory, stateless and without cultural or economic rules as evasive mechanisms face the reality of the individual and the world, flames suggestive constitutes one of the order audiovisual pieces which the artist Francis Naranjo will present in space or, work carried out with the collaboration of Carmen Caballero and conceived during many travels and residences around the world. Through several other installations composed mainly of objects and images, work reveals the impossibility of human influence in their environment, which has led to the crisis of the planet and the decadence of the society because of their strategies of escape from reality.
Francis Naranjo’s self-portrait “… The clash of traditional ideologies is what has brought the world to the disastrous situation in which it is located. Capitalism and the real socialism, as we know, have proved to be the same, and have led to that the planet is reduced to the morphology of artifacts. We are transforming it into a set of scrap due to the disappearance of the raw materials. But in the midst of all this continue and operated certain social roles as evaders of concrete realities, so power follow influencing conclusively on each of our activities,”reflects the artist.
In this context, “Everything matters” proposes a scheme of self-regulation of the spirit and of the society, addressing the traditional problems promptly, without stop thinking in all. It proposes that the relationship of the individual with the society could approach from social ecology and environmentalism, as an alternative to the traditional worldview, to understand the situation and the State in which we find ourselves. “Important is understanding the relationship of man with nature; and on the other hand the relationship of men among themselves. On the basis that the majority of conflicts generated from the problems of the individual, society and nature. Without forgetting the social issue facing repression”, accurate Naranjo.
