The Secretariat of State Development reported that the use of straws in restaurants, bars, coffee will be prohibited from January 25, 2020 and similar.
The mandate was published in the official State newspaper.
In the case of those establishments that fail to comply with this provision, fines will go from the 1,500 to 20,000 UMAS (unit of measure and update).

“In the case of recidivism the fine can be up to twice the amount originally imposed. Proceed to definitive closure in case of committing the same offence for the third time”, said the Ministry of development.
The Governor of Nuevo León, Jaime Rodríguez, held this provision in his Twitter account, stressing that it is a measure in favour of the environment.
