Despite the heavy rains that have affected the North of Chile, Arica expected to be visited by more than 100 thousand people per day during the Andean Carnival with the force of the Sun.
They are 64 dance groups participating in this festival every summer, where more than 16 thousand dancers ariqueans demonstrate their skill in dance after preparing for months.
This artistic spectacle unique in the world for all travellers visiting the region will be held between 15 and 17 February.
To this respect Minister Secretary general of Government, Cecilia Pérez, said that “to admire the richness and diversity that our country is mission of all of us and when we see different generations showing Chile one of the most important carnivals of” Latin America is proud.”
Meanwhile, the Undersecretary of tourism, Mónica Zalaquett, said that “tourists today are looking for a connection with the cultural expressions and the identity of the destinations that visit. The Carnival of Arica is a great example of the implementation of cultural heritage and the pride of Arica and its inhabitants through dance, colors and unique multiculturalism that brings this city.”
Since 2001 the city of eternal spring hosts Carnival with the force of the Sun. The Festival has more than 2 Km of circuit seeking rescue, promote and disseminate the Andean culture through dance and music, being one of the flagship activities in the area.
The Mayor of Arica, Gerardo Espíndola, pointed out that “this is an invitation to the country to fix its gaze in Arica. We have a multicultural city that shows its union environment to this great festival.”
