The instance will aim to analyse current legislation and public policies in this regard, with emphasis on prevention and care programs and to determine the reasons for the rise in figures in recent years.
The latest study by the Institute of public health (ISP), conducted between January 1 and November 30, 2018, threw a total of 6.430 new cases, the highest increase registered in our country.
The figure was attributed by the Minister Santelices the arrival of infected immigrants and the use of the morning after pill which – in his opinion – has discouraged the use of condoms, said that generated a deep controversy.
The Commission was driven by the Deputy of Commons, Claudia Mix, who was designated as responsible for chairing this instance by the unanimity of the members.
“We have a huge work to develop in this Committee. We must analyze public policies on HIV in order to detect the causes of the rise in cases of the past 10 years and the responsibilities of those who”, said the Deputy Mix.
Consulted with respect to the objectives of the Commission’s work, Mix said that “we intend to clearly establish the political responsibilities and to whom it may concern. We call for a serious work to the parliamentarians who make up this instance thinking in the future of the Chilean”.
