The renowned sommelier Josep Roca is visiting Chile in the context of their involvement in Nam Innova, which is done until this April 3 in Barrio Lastarria.
Josep, alongside siblings Joan and Jordi, is owner of the award-winning restaurant Celler de Can Roca, which since 2009 has three Michelin stars and has been number one in the World’s 50 Best Restaurant.
Rock has toured Spain and the world to investigate about creation, origin and history of different wines, valleys and strains. This time it was the turn of Chile. The sommelier began their journey on Sunday in the Region of Valparaiso, knowing wines from the coast in Viña Garcés Silva. Subsequently he traveled more to the South, the municipality of San Javier, to learn about the Boutique Bouchon vineyard, where you could enjoy a tasting and country wild lineup.
In the same commune became the Garage Wine Company Vina, where could also learn more about the Chilean wine industry. To close the crossing for San Javier, he visited the Gillmore vineyard, dominated by the Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Carignan vines.
The day Monday traveled to the Region of Bio Bio, specifically to the Itata Valley, where he had the opportunity to meet the winery of Viña chieftain wonder, in Yumbel. It proved the variety of wines from pipeño there made, lunched typical food of the area and tested AguaLoca, a distillate made in the same vineyard visited.
