President Sebastián Piñera started his State visit to China signed, together with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, of a plan of action with which both Nations seek to boost bilateral ties.
The head of State arrived in Beijing Wednesday for an official visit during which he will participate, among the 25 days and 27, in the second Forum of the new Silk roads, something about what was “very excited”.
According to the office of the Presidency, Pinera was received about 12: 30 local hours (04.30 GMT) by Xi in the great Palace of the people in the Chinese capital, after it signed the plan for the 2019-2022 period, qualified “strategic roadmap” to “encourage the” bilateral relations, promote exchanges and strengthen strategic coordination in regional and international issues”.

The road map details a total of 14 strategic issues that strengthen the cooperation, such as politics, economy and trade, energy, agriculture, transportation and telecommunications, science and technology and innovation.
Also signed an agreement on trade defence and a protocol of exportation of Chilean pears to China, a country to which the Andean nation exported 60% of products of agriculture, forestry and fisheries for 2018.
Pinera also met with the Chinese Prime Minister, Li Keqiang, and with the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Assembly National Popular (ANP, legislative), Li Zhanshu.
On Thursday, the President will inaugurate a Digital economy and Innovation Forum, will participate in an event for the promotion of Chilean wines, visit installations of the Chinese company’s transportation Didi and will meet with companies from the Asian giant electromobility.
Chilean President – travelling in the company of the first lady, Cecilia Morel – will be invested that same day “Honorary Professor” by the prestigious Beijing University of Tsinghua.
On Friday he will participate in the opening session of the second Forum of the new Silk roads, Summit which will be two separate interventions.
Chile announced its addition to the Chinese initiative multimillion-dollar of the new Silk roads – whose official name is the Strip and the route – in November 2018.
Pinera will travel Saturday to the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen, where he will meet with local authorities and will visit the facilities of the BYD company, which announced the sale of hundreds of electric buses for Transantiago, renamed in July of 2018 as a network by the own head of State.
There will also meet with the authorities of the province of Guangzhou on Sunday, before continuing on to Seoul.
Chile is considered by China as “an important partner of cooperation in Latin America and Asia-Pacific”, said the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs last week Chinese Lu Kang.
The spokesman recalled that Chile was the “first country of the region that signed a Treaty of free trade (agreement FTA) with China”, and expressed his hope that the official visit of Piñera will serve to “increase and deepen mutual political trust,” as well as to “intensify the” friendly cooperation”in search of”new fruits”of the”comprehensive strategic partnership”of both Nations.
Bilateral trade increased by 24% for 2018 to 42.791 million dollars (38.165 million euros), which represents a figure “record”, according to data collected by the Chilean Foreign Ministry.
China is the main trade partner of Chile, and trade with the Asian country represent 30% of the total of foreign trade in the Andean nation, with special attention to mining exports – copper, mainly-, which reached its historical maximum in 2018 after increased by 30% to 20.016 million dollars (17.847 million euros).
Both countries will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its official ties the coming year.
