Living with bad air quality is not something exclusive of the capital, in reality it is a phenomenon that occurs throughout the country and that is not always attended by local authorities. Data from the Institute of policies for transport and development (ITDP) show that only in 2017, derived the use of road transport pollution was associated with the death of 14 thousand 288 people in the 20 largest cities in the country.

The national report of air quality of the National Institute of ecology and climate change (INECC) 2017 revealed that unfulfilled areas are located in Aguascalientes, Chiapas, Campeche, Merida, Acapulco, Queretaro, Juarez, Coahuila and Chihuahua.
Past studies confirm that, in Mexico, more than ten thousand people die each year from diseases linked to the poor quality of the air, especially older adults, children and people with cardiovascular disease, asthma or respiratory infections acute.
The Institute of public health (INSP) reported that in 2015 died 14 thousand 666 people in 15 cities of the national urban system. National air quality crisis, creates Observatorio Ciudadano
After the lack of reports on the quality of the air in the system of monitoring the country’s crisis by bad air quality occurring in cities such as the city of Mexico, Guadalajara, Monterrey, and Puebla, on Wednesday presented the citizen Observatory of quality the air.
The new Observatory is integrated by the Mexican Center of environmental law (CEMDA), Greenpeace, the Policy Institute for transportation and development (ITDP), the power of the consumer (EPC), Bicitekas and Foundation Tlaloc.
The Observatory will seek to participate in the working groups of the NOM’s health standards program, make contributions on integral mobility plans, demonstrate the effects of poor air quality and promote the strengthening of programmes of vehicle verification.
Sthepan Brodziak, Member of the Observatory, said that the problem involving the poor quality of the air, the three levels of government authorities are indifferent. “At every opportunity of approaching government bodies we do know irregularities, and they know it, but even we hear laughter.”
Being a citizen Observatory, projects will be conducted by national and international donations. The Observatory will seek their main bases of collaboration are the citizenship and educational centers.
