Eva Duarte arrived from her native Junín to Buenos Aires at the beginning of 1935 at the age of fifteen looking for a better future for herself amidst the economic crisis that plagued the nation and with one goal in mind: to be an actress. That same year, after unsuccessfully searching for a theatre company to join for several months, he signed a contract with the company of José Franco and took his first steps on the stage in “La Señora Pérez”, released on March 28th. Eva took part in several works between 1935 and 1936 until, during a tour of the interior of the country, she dissociated herself from the company by a scandal that involved the director and his wife, who distrust of an alleged infidelity.

Between 1936 and 1940 he was part of several casts and since 1939 he turned to the Radio theatre, which at that time was on the rise in our country. He made his debut with “Los Jazmines of the 80s”, a period romance that, despite not being a success, earned him the recognition of the audience and brought his image to the magazines, antenna and Radiolandia, which was fundamental to make the definitive jump to the cinema.

His career was short but remarkable and was sometimes crossed by scandal. From minor roles to major protagonists, these were the films that showed Evita on the big screen.
In the middle of 1937, after being part of the cast of the work “The New Colony”, which lasted not even fifteen days in poster, Eva participated in a contest organized by the magazine Tuning whose prize was a small role in the film “Seconds Out!” Playing L A humble girlfriend of the district of a boxer (Pierre Quartucci). He had few minutes on screen and the film did not go down although he received good reviews, but it was a first step in his jump from theater to cinema.
After his debut in “Seconds Out!” Eva moved away from the cinema to return to the theatre until 1940, when she joined the cast of this film by the Chilean Migliar. “The burden of the brave” was an overproduction of Pampa films that recreated the defense of Carmen de Patagones in 1827 in which Eva interpreted the employee of a pulpería who falls in love with the lieutenant of a pillbox (Santiago Arrieta). It was his first film with a relevant role and the real beginning of his cinematographic career.
Eva’s career continued for the next two years with secondary roles in comedies with a large cast. In “the most unhappy of the people” he shared a screen with Luis Landrisini, Armando Bo and Silvia Legrand; While in “a Bride in distress” met again with Pedro Quartrucci, in a production that also counted on the presence of José Alcántara, Alicia Barrie, Héctor Calcaño and Lydia la maison.
Already established as an actress of renown, Eva shared a poster with Libertad Lamarque and Hugo of the lane in a film that told the history of two families of a Creole circus through the years but transcended more by the enmity of the then couple of John Perón with Lamarque for its film value. The legend says that Libertad Lamarque slapped Eve during the filming for cartel issues, but the actress denied him in countless opportunities, but confirmed that there were problems between them because Eve “did not fulfill his work” and that generated Time delays in filming. Director Mario Soffici liked the work of Eva so much that he proposed to him to star in his next film, “La Prodigal”.
Eva’s last film would be the first to be the main figure, with Alberto Closas as co-protagonist. “The Prodigal” is a drama in which the actress plays a wealthy woman who widow decides to donate all her fortune among the most humble. Unfortunately the film could not be released in theaters because after Eva’s wedding with Perón on October 22, 1945, this banned the premiere and ordered the destruction of all negatives. However a copy was hidden in Montevideo and the film came to the halls of our country almost four decades later, in August 1984.
