Under the slogan “Antarctic Science for All”, the University of Santiago de Chile (USACH) with the support and sponsorship D The Chilean Antarctic Institute (INACH) and SCAR Chile, represented by the National Antarctic Research Committee (CNIA), organize the ninth Chilean Antarctic Research Congress, which will take place in the city of Olmué, Región de Valparaíso, from 3 to 5 October of the present.
For Marcelo Leppe, national director of INACH, this Congress responds to the important growth that has experienced the National Program of Antarctic Science (PRO100) in the last ten years, coupled with the progressive interest of some houses of study to promote and Develop within this theme.
Gustavo Zúñiga, Antarctic researcher and main promoter of this meeting, says that “in recent years, researchers from the University of Santiago de Chile have developed, with the support of the INACH, several Antarctic projects. For this reason, the organization of this Congress represents for the university an instance that will allow to gather the scientific community, to update the Antarctic knowledge and to disseminate it to the society “.

Jenny Blamey, President of the Scientific Committee of the Congress, hopes that “the meeting is the space where we can visualize the most recent advances made in the Chilean Antarctic research and that the sustained work of the INACH through the financing of Projects, be presented and known in the Congress. ”
This meeting occurs at a time when more than a hundred projects are executed in Antarctica, among which are the IDEAL FONDAP, led by the Universidad Austral de Chile, and when a new call for Antarctic rings is opened for the innovation program Associative (PIA), Conicyt.
