After the celebrated premiere at the Cannes film Festival “Once Upon a time in Hollywood,” The new movie by Quentin Tarantino, the director and the cast participated in a press conference in which an awkward moment was experienced by Tarantino’s aggressive response To the question of one of the journalists attending. Harvey Weinstein, perhaps one of Hollywood’s most repudiated figures today, produced all of Tarantino’s films (“Once Upon a time in Hollywood” is the first one not produced by The Weinstein Company), who admitted to knowing “enough” of the actions of Weinstein “To do more” than he did. ” I wish I had taken responsibility for what I heard, “he said in an interview with The New York Times at The end of 2017. “If I had done what I should have done, I should have stopped working with him.” Months later, in February 2018 Uma Thurman, one of his muses, gave an interview in which he spoke from his place as one of the victims of Weinstein and recalled the abuse he suffered by the Director, who assumed certain roles when it was possible (as spitting in place D E Michael Madsen or hang her with a string instead of Chiaki Kuriyama) in what the actress identifies as a sort of sadistic fetish. Thurman’s testimony reminded Diane Kruger, who participated in “Bastards Without Glory” (2009) and also claimed to have been hanged by the director (instead of Christoph Waltz) at the scene of his death in the film. “I know exactly what I need, and I think I should,” he recalled Tarantino during an interview in 2009 and added: “I must accept that it was very strange to be strangled by the director.” Years later, when Uma Thurman’s interview was published, Kruger published in his Instagram account a text explaining that after reading his colleague’s allegations he saw the need to clarify that his own experience with the director was excellent. , who treated her with respect and never abused her power or forced her to do anything she didn’t feel comfortable with.
The relationship between Tarantino and Thurman was definitively broken when four days after completing the nightmarish nine-month production of “Kill Bill”, Tarantino forced her to drive a vehicle that had informed her was unreliable. I post this clip to memorialize it’s full exposure in the NYT by Maureen Dowd. The circumstances of this event were negligent to the point of criminality. I do not believe though with malicious intent. Quentin Tarantino, it was deeply regretful and remains remorse about this sorry event, and gave me the footage years later so I could expose it and let it see the light of day, regardless of it most likely being an event for which justice will never be possible. He also did so with full knowledge it could cause him personal harm, and I am proud of him for doing the right thing and for his courage. THE COVER UP After the fact is UNFORGIVABLE. For this I hold Lawrence Bender, E. Bennett Walsh, and the notorious Harvey Weinstein solely responsible. They lied, destroyed evidence, and continue to lie about the permanent harm they caused and then chose to suppress. The cover up did have malicious intent, and shame on these three for all eternity. CAA never sent anyone to Mexico. I hope they look after other clients more respectfully if they in fact want to do the job for which they take money with any decency.

More than fifteen years later Thurman and Tarantino seem to be on good terms again.
