translated from Spanish: Government presents complaint against former officials and militants of opposition parties for trafficking in Chinese immigrants

The government spokesperson, Cecilia Perez, confirmed that the execution Ivo, through the Ministry of the Interior, presented on Monday a complaint against those responsible for participating in an alleged illicit network of trafficking in Chinese immigrants.
The investigation carried out by the investigating police (PDI) and the public prosecutor for six months, points to former public officials of the Government of the new majority, including a former governor, a former mayor and an active official of the Chancellery .
“As a government we condemn this fact and say it strongly because it realizes that we were absolutely right when we told the Chileans that we had to put order in the House on migration. And that is what we have done, with a modern legal policy, safe, regulated and with conditions that are made available to all people so that they can be informed, “said Minister Cecilia Perez from the palace of La Moneda.
In this sense, he emphasized that “what we received from the Government of the new majority in terms of migration was not only a tremendous disorder, but now we also know that there were former public officials and even authorities involved in a band that brought Migrants illegally. It is a fact of utmost gravity, which we condemn and which must be investigated until the last consequences. ”
It should be noted that of the former officials detained, eleven were formalized by trafficking of migrants, illicit association and cofacto.
Also among those involved are Álex Brito, official of the Chancellery and who would have led the network; Álex Trigo, former governor of Choapa; Mauricio Navarro, former mayor of the Andes; And Pablo Parraguez, among other government officials of the new majority.
Through this network, 381 Chinese citizens arrived in the country, of which 178 crossed to Argentina and 203 live in Chile. Of these, 143 are resident or are being processed, while 60 are unlocatable.
The Minister of the Interior, Andrés Chadwick, added that “President Piñera has always said that we are ordering the house, that means having a migration policy and being concerned about illegal situations or crimes that can be committed. In this way, we complain as we have done in other cases of trafficking, so that all those involved in this type of illegal actions are clear that they will be caught by the police and receive sanctions. ”
In this line, the government spokesperson stressed that “we will seek justice to thoroughly investigate this case and to vigorously enforce the sanctions that apply to these former public officials.”
