Netflix continues to exploit the success of stranger things and expanding the brand to other areas. During E3, in addition to the game based on the Dark Crystals announced during the Nintendo Direct, the company confirmed that it is working on a new game of stranger things for mobile devices with mechanics similar to those of Pokémon GO. The game will be developed by Next Games Studio, responsible for another augmented reality title based on a series: The Walking Dead: Our World. In the press release the studio describes the experience as a puzzle role-playing game with localization system, which will use the integration with Google Maps to allow players to confront with their friends the creatures coming from the dimension Parallel known in the series as “the Upside Down.”

“Our goal is to celebrate the rich and intense themes of stranger things, such as friendship and supernatural adventure, and move them to a mobile entertainment experience,” said the studio’s CEO in the statement. The only image presented in the game shows Eleven and company with an almost animated design of the 1980s, in tune with the ambience and style of the series. Stranger things has no announced launch date. This clone of Pokémon GO (as the recently announced Minecraft Earth) is not the only game based on the popular series. The day of the premiere of the third season the company will launch stranger things 3: The Game, a cooperative action adventure with isometric camera in which players take control of one of the twelve playable characters throughout a story to be Directly connected to the events in the series.
Obviously the game will take many licenses, because we do not imagine these fifteen year olds carrying a grenade launcher as seen in the trailer. Stranger things 3: The Game, will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, Android and iOS next July 4.
