translated from Spanish: The reunion of almond musicians, 50 years after “Paper Eyes Girl”

“Paper-eyed girl
Where are you going? Stay till dawn
Small foot girl
Don’t run anymore, stay till dawn…”So begins one of the pieces that laid the foundations of national rock: “Girl Paper Eyes”. The song was released on June 22, 1969, by the group Almendra, and to this day its stanzas remain in force. Luis Alberto Spinetta, Edelmiro Molinari, Emilio del Guercio and Rodolfo García were in charge of bringing this work to life, which today turned 50 years old; therefore, you will have a tribute to height. It is that the “Flaco” will star in the new episode of “Bios. Lives that marked yours,” National Geographic’s biographical cycle that sums up the story of figures who marked a before and after.
For this, the documentary will present nothing more or nothing less than the historical reunion between two musicians of Almendra, Del Guercio and García, together with Cata Spinetta in the cultural pole “Saldías”.  “It fills me with pride and confidence that National Geographic makes this documentary dedicated to my father. I am personally committed to this project, from love and respect, so that her immense work and art are reflected in this great production”, says Catarina Spinetta.  In the meantime, we show you some unpublished images that can be seen in NatGeo.

On the one hand, he will go through a facet that many did not know of the “Flaco”: he was a great cartoonist. “It is my greatest wish, and certainly that of your parents too, that one day we will see you like this,” says the dedication of Spinetta’s 1968 drawing, a gift to Emilio del Guercio for his 18th birthday.

On the other hand, we will be able to know what was the first bass that Emilio del Guercio used in Almond, which until now treasures as a reminder of that great moment of his life.

In addition, the documentary is introduced in Saldías, the place where Spinetta was able to realize the essays of the magnitude required by a monumental company such as Las Bandas Eternas; a five-hour recital. This episode comes after previous broadcasts dedicated to Charly García and Gustavo Cerati, which had a pleasant response from the audience. The new release won’t be left behind: after all, the “Flaco” is still more present than ever in all hearts. In this note:
