“Individuals and/or stakeholders who decide to comment and propose additional prevention and mitigation measures to this project shall do so in writing in accordance with Article 34 of the General Law on Ecological Balance and Environmental Protection (LGEEPA),” said Semarnat.
The Secretariat stated that, the article “grants the promoter (Pemex) the right to keep information in reserve and submit a public version of the document”; however, at this consultation phase, the ASEA will modulate this right and review the reservations submitted to this version of the project.
It also announced that, at this stage, the ASEA will hold a public meeting at which attendees who demonstrate legitimate interest and are duly accredited will be able to access the data in the file.

“Comments and comments received by the authority in both the consultation and the public briefing will form part of the dossier. This means that citizen observations should be taken into account for the final analysis and resolution issued by this environmental authority on the project,” said Semarnat.
