translated from Spanish: The fifth version of the only Fair Trade fair in Latin America and Chile began

Sixteen exhibitors present their works at the Feria Feria Justo de Alto Las Condes. A space that was born five years ago to support Fair Trade in Chile, a movement that seeks to promote the sustainable economy based on respect for people and care for the environment, through the amplification of fairly developed work, promoting a fair commercial relationship between producers and consumers.
Decorative items, textiles, jewelry, national handicrafts and food are part of the elements that can be found during this panorama that lasts four days from Thursday 27 to Sunday 30 June in the central square of Alto Las Condes. In addition, there will be free fabric workshops to enjoy a complete family experience.
This fifth version reiterates their support and visibility to the Chilean woman, as most of the ventures stand out for possessing a high percentage of female participation. Among the exhibitors to highlight is The Chol Chol Foundation, a non-profit organization that delivers visibility and empowers women who dedicate their lives to Mapuche texteling through fair and equitable development promoting respect for cultures.
On the other hand, there is Witral Chile, a group that consists of 100% artisans who come from different parts of the VII Region and are organized in groups according to zones to learn the beautiful art of Mapuche fabric. Their work is based on noble processes, as wool is carefully extracted from sheep that are raised freely in the surrounding meadows.
This fair held by Alto Las Condes, together with the Chilean Association for Fair Trade and the Maule Corporation, who in alliance, seek to promote a trading system based on dialogue, transparency and respect, contributing to sustainable development, promoting the local product, based on the 10 Fair Trade standards, under a trisectorial gaze. In addition, it seeks to highlight the production conditions and the price that is paid for the transaction of these items.
“We love to continue to support initiatives that have such a deep purpose. Not only do we want to be a fundamental pillar for small local producers working on noble processes, but we want to continue to reiterate our commitment to Fair Trade in the long term and to make female entrepreneurship more flexible, aligned our brand values, also calling for gender equity and women’s empowerment,” said Magdalena De Rosas, head of Marketing at Alto Las Condes.
