Mexico.- A group of students from the ninth semester of Engineering in Biotechnology of The Monterrey Technological, Campus Estado de México, created GOM, a line of anti-stress gummies and related conditions, which contain extracts of medicinal plants.
The team, consisting of Pamela Jiménez, Karla Soto, María José Ugarte, Raúl García and Rodrigo Saavedra, developed the product with the aim of benefiting the student community in the fight against stress, a condition that is very common among young people due to the workload that they face and that increases at the end of the semester.
They used typical Mexican herbal ingredients such as pasiflora and valerian, known for their relaxing effects; in addition to white sapping, boldo and chamomile, used to fight infections and other conditions. These ingredients are subjected to a solid-liquid extraction process, using alcohol that allows to extract the properties of plants to form the gummies.
The gummies on the market are a product that many young people consume, but they are really just sugar. We wanted to make an improvement in production to make them healthier and also bring them an additional benefit,” explained Alan Saavedra, one of the creators.
GOM has three types of gummies: relaxing, digestive and flu-resistant, which represent a solution, to solve the main problems facing young students today.
With relaxing gummies you can reduce stress, the flu gives a support to your immune system to prevent diseases, and the digestive is very good to prevent gastritis and colitis from poor diet,” said Pamela Jiménez, a member of the team.
Currently, young people are improving the product, to start marketing it in various flavors such as orange, lemon, blackberries, red fruits, among others.
