translated from Spanish: Del Mazo hid millionaire account in Andorra: El País

The governor of the State of Mexico, Alfredo del Mazo, hid a 1.5 million euro account in Andorra’s Private Banking (BPA), as well as his relationship with a Dutch instrumental company called Abeodan Corporation, according to an investigation of the newspaper El País.
The Spanish newspaper stated that the priist governor also omitted his relationship with Pumasa S.A. de C.V., a company dedicated to parking management. This, in January 2017, months before the election in the State of Mexico, which he subsequently won.

A document prepared by the BANK’s money laundering prevention committee, obtained by El País, shows that Del Mazo informed the bank plans to make various million-dollar transactions that would come from money “deposited in Switzerland”, however, the governor has not answered questions, the newspaper details.
The investigation states that the EUR 1.5 million deposited in the account represented by Del Mazo was frozen by the Andorran authorities in 2015, as an investigation was initiated against the Mexican governor for alleged money laundering, but that after two years, it has been shelved.

Andorra’s Private Banking has been chosen by other members of the PRI to transfer funds, according to the newspaper, such as the case of the former Deputy for Sinaloa Sinaloa Sinaloa S. Lara Aréchiga, who managed a six million dollar account.
There is also the case of Francisco Arroyo Vieyra, former chairman of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Deputies and former ambassador of Mexico to Uruguay, who hid more than $1.2 million in an account of the same bank.
Del Mazo rejects everything
The governor of the State of Mexico rejected all the information published by the newspaper, as he said that “the information” about his assets is not correct and ruled out having any bank account in Andorra.
About his relationship with Pumasa, the company dedicated to parking management, Del Mazo said that he was invited to participate, but that the society was never formalized “because at that time I received an invitation to join the cabinet of the Government of the Republic in Mexico, therefore, I reiterate that I do not have any bank accounts in Andorra, as noted.”
The state representative said that he did not omit any information in his estate statement and that the note in the Spanish newspaper speaks of “a possible society in which he would have participated, however this was never carried out, for which refusal to be a partner of any company mentioned in the note.”
