translated from Spanish: Venezuelans in Chile propose government to create family reunification visa

The Venezuelan Diaspora Commission on Friday presented to the Chilean government a formal proposal to discuss the possibility of establishing a “family reunification visa” that will provide venezol relatives Chile’s resident being able to establish theys in the southern nation.
The proposal was formally presented to the Under-Secretary of the Interior, Rodrigo Ubilla, by Danny Ramírez, representative of the Venezuelan Diaspora Commission, a body that emerged as a representation of Venezuelan citizens to act partners with the Government.
The possibility of establishing such a visa had been repeated for some time by some representatives of the Venezuelan community in Chile, such as Guarequena Gutiérrez herself, the ambassador to Chile appointed by the head of Venezuela’s Parliament, Juan Guaidó, recognized as president of his country by more than 590 nations around the world.
“We have proposed the possibility of a family reunification visa to expedite administrative and legal procedures so that family members (of Venezuelans residing in Chile) can come together in this territory and settle in Chile”, Ramirez told the press.
” (The proposal) follows a sentiment and clamor of most Venezuelans who find ourselves in this territory of being able to reunite and meet our relatives who were left there,” he added.
Ramírez commented that the Venezuelan Diaspora supports the Government’s migration policy, but that it can be optimized and that the family reunification visa would come to complete the other two established by the Chilean government, the consular and the responsibility would help decongest consulates from different parts of the world.
For his part, Guarequena Gutiérrez, who accompanied Ramírez in the meeting with Ubilla, said that “family reunification is a sensitive issue” and that she knows that in the consulates there have been safe conducts to children and seniorcitizens to allow them to meet with their relatives.
Chile is the third largest welcoming country for Venezuelans, with 288,200, which has become the largest immigrant community in the country, with 23% of all foreigners.
The scale of the Venezuelan crisis causes at least 5,000 people to leave the country daily, with an estimated 7.5 million migrants over 7.5 million next year, according to a report released at the end of June by the Organization of States Americans (OAS).
