Morelia, Michoacán. – With the commitment to enhance citizen participation in the creation of state laws, the local deputy, Sergio Báez Torres participated in the 5th. Regional Forum for the construction of a new Municipal Organic Law, organized and carried out by the Municipal Strengthening Commission to which it belongs.

On the territory of the municipality of Coalcomán, the deputy of the LXXIV Legislature with his companions, listened to the comments and suggestions of the municipal presidents, trustees, trustees and citizens, in order to make an analysis and include the topics pending in the next new law.

The lawmaker emanated from Morena, detailed that the current law was created in 2001, almost 20 years without being updated, so it is necessary to renew it and include advances in citizens’ rights, citizen participation, environmental issues and protection of natural resources, security, a new municipal order, among other topics, in order that the Municipal Organic Law in Michoacán, is in line with the reality of the municipalities.

He recognized the active participation of the municipal authorities as a citizen in the 5th. Regional Forum, where they highlighted the proposals to provide law enforcement and heads with legal representation that they do not currently possess, as well as to view the Citizens’ Councils as a body to accompany the municipal presidents in decision-making.

There are nine forums that are contemplated to be held in the territory of Michoacano, of which are still to be visited by the municipalities of Lázaro Cárdenas, Zitácuaro, Ciudad Hidalgo and Morelia, the last calendared for November.

“The forums conclude in November, from there we would be doing a sum of all the forums to work on a proposal that would have to carry the entire congressional order, we are also involving in each forum the Deputies that have influence in the territory with the idea of showing the commitment to make an accompaniment already in the legislative work of all proposals that are emerging”, said Báez Torres.
