Meryl Streep will be the first recipient of an acting award awarded as part of the Toronto International Film Festival.The festival organizers announced Friday that Streep will receive the inaugural TIFF Tribute Actor Award during a gala charity on February 9. The dazzling fundraiser will support the festival’s year-round efforts to promote the films and leading industry creators.
The actress is the most nominated actress in academy awards history and has won the Oscar three times. The award is separate from the honors awarded in the films shown at the September festival. The People’s Choice Award often becomes a candidate for Best Oscar Film.
Streep stars in Steven Soderbergh’s upcoming Panama Papers film “Laundry” with Gary Oldman and Antonio Banderas. The film will have its North American premiere in TIFF. As if that were not enough celebrities that will have popularity at the festival for their presentations are Jennifer Lopez, Cardi B and Tom Hanks who bet all their talent on these new projects because it is not for less since we had good weather without seeing them on screen big except for the performer of I like it who will make her acting debut.
For its part JLo will soon play the drug trafficker, Griselda Blanco, in the new film entitled Godmother where the singer could also debut as producer, since we remember that the best roles of the artist are when she makes them Latina because it splurges sensuality and passion leaving a good taste in the mouth to the public.
One of Lopez’s most remembered roles was when she played the late singer Selena who was murdered several years ago by her assistant Yolanda Saldívar.
