translated from Spanish: Griselda Martínez, mayor of Manzanillo, is unscathed after attack

This Friday, the mayor of Manzanillo, Griselda Martínez, was the victim of a gun attack in the state of Colima.
The Colima Attorney General’s Office confirmed Animal Político’s attack, claiming that the mayor is unharmed and an escort was injured.
Later, through a statement, the unit detailed that in addition to the escort a woman traveling in another car at the time of the attack was also injured.
Both the escort and the woman are already cared for in a hospital.
According to the statement, at the time of the assault, the mayor was traveling with two other people, in addition to her driver and the injured escort.
The events occurred around 8:30 p.m. near the Barrio IV bridge in the Garzas Valley in Manzanillo, one of the city’s main road arteries.
Griselda Martínez is already under the protection of the authorities who came to the scene to start the investigation.
“The Public Prosecutor’s Office will provide more information once investigations progress and where the procedural timing so permits, so as not to hinder the prosecution of the Public Prosecutor’s Office,” reads the statement.
Last Wednesday Griselda Martínez went to the State Attorney General’s Office to file a complaint about alleged fraud and corruption committed within the Manzanillo Commission on Drinking Water, Drainage and Sewerage.
