translated from Spanish: Constitutional Court upheld proceedings against Humberto Oviedo and Alejandro Villagra

The Constitutional Court (TC) lifted the suspension of proceedings against the former commander-in-chief of the Army, Humberto Oviedo, former General Alejandro Villagra and former Colonel Ivan Faber.
The decision was taken by the First Chamber of the TC and welcomed the request submitted by the State Defence Council (CDE), which on Monday called for the suspension of those proceedings, a request that arose precisely because the TC had rejected on Friday past the unconstitutionality requirements imposed by the three ex uniforms.
All this is given in the context of the investigation being carried out by Minister Romy Rutherford, for the responsibility of these former officials in the fraud in the Armed Forces, on the edge “tourism companies”, cause that was suspended after the defence of the defendants brought an unconstitutional action before the TC.
Oviedo has been released from 1 August after paying 2 million pesos, after the Martial Court considered the “absence of qualified grounds to obstruct the freedom of the accused”.
It is worth noting that former General Villagra on Wednesday resigned to the Army in response to the TC’s decision to reject his appeal.
