In Mexico City, students and citizens met at the rectory of UNAM, where they demanded that the termination of pregnancy be legalized throughout the country, as it is currently only possible for any reason in the capital of the country.

In other states such as Yucatan, Chihuahua, Baja California, Nuevo León, Veracruz and Quintana Roo, the call for the pañuelazo indicates that the activities will be carried out between 17:00 and 19:00 hours, so the day of the green tide in the country will continue.

On 8 August 2018, the Argentine Senate rejected 38 votes against, 31 in favour and 2 abstentions a bill that proposed allowing termination of pregnancy during the first 14 weeks of gestation regardless of the cause of the decision.

This was the seventh time that the Legal Interruption of Pregnancy (IVE) bill is presented to the Legislative Power of Argentina, where abortion is currently only allowed in cases of rape and when there is danger to the life or health of the woman.
In Mexico, the nation’s capital is the only state in which women are allowed to terminate their pregnancy in the first 12 weeks, regardless of the cause. In the rest of the country it is only legal to abort in case of rape.

However, state criminal codes differ from the other grounds for terminating pregnancy, and some of them include the danger of a woman’s life, product malformation, artificial insemination consented and for economic reasons.
