The governor of Puebla, Miguel Barbosa, signed a decree with which legal actions of “preliberation or pardon” will begin, for women imprisoned for abortion, as well as for those who, under pressure, committed drug possession.

“I will not be a governor who puts his people in shock, we will be careful in all these matters. I have signed a decree to initiate from the legal procedures the preliberation or pardon of those who are detained, of the women who are detained for the abortion issue and we will include the petition that concerns drug possession,” she said at the conversation Advances and challenges in the consolidation of the right to equality and a life free from violence of women in Puebla.
In front of the head of the National Commission to Prevent and Eradicate Violence against Women (Conavim), María Candelaria Ochoa, Barbosa insisted that 45 measures and 159 actions contemplated by the Declaration of Alert of Gender Violence in Puebla will be taken.

Last April, the Federal Ministry of Government (Segob) issued the Declaration of Gender Violence Alert against Women for 50 municipalities of the state, including Acajete, Acatlán, Acatzingo, Ajalpan, Amozoc, Atempan, Atlixco, Calpan, Chalchicomula Chiautla, Chietla, Chignahuapan, Coronango, Cuautlancingo and Cuetzalán del Progreso.
