Argentina faced Canada again for the Pan American Games but this time in the final it had in play, in addition to the gold medal, the place for next year’s Olympics so the girls had to leave everything and so they did after the victory in the preliminary phase by 3 to 0, thanks to the goals of Carla Rebecchi, Silvina D’Elia and Noel Barrionuevo, Las Leonas voliveron to dominate in the match and stayed with the game by 5 to 1 thanks to the goals of Julieta Jankunas (x2) , Silvina D’Elia (x2) and Carla Rebecchi.
In the first half, Argentina dominated all the actions and had got the advantage in the first few minutes of play, accommodated the outcome of it for a new title of this team that combines some historical with several youths who promise to keep the team in the pinnacle of the sport. With this victory, Las Leonas cut a streak of two Pan American Games in which they lost in the consecutive final (Guadalajara 2011 and Toronto 2015) and the gold again hung, after Rio de Janeiro 2007. In all the other tournaments organized by Panam Sports earlier, they had been awarded champions. In addition, the gold medal won is the 22nd of the Argentine team so far from Lima 2019 and they surpassed the 21 achieved in the contest in Mexico, being the best competition of the delegation in the last 30 years of sport.
