Spain.- The urban area of Tejeda and the neighborhoods adjacent to the variant road of this grancanarian municipality have been evacuated by the forest fire declared this Saturday afternoon in the highlands of Valleseco, has been reported by the Coordinating Center for Security and Emergencies of the Canary Islands.
This is the second time in less than a week that the residents of the urban area and several population centers of this municipality have to be evacuated as a result of a forest fire, since last Sunday they were declared in Artenara.
The president of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Antonio Morales, has stressed the importance of the populations close to the Valleseco fire being watched at night in the face of possible changes in the wind.
“The head flanks remain active. It is true that during the night variations can occur in positive but also, depending on the orientation of the winds, the flanks can be revived,” said Morales in statements disseminated to the media.
“It is important,” he said, “that we are all vigilant, both those affected by the left flank and the right flank because night winds are expected to change the orientation of the fire.”
