Timothy Walter Burton was born in sunny California in 1958, but always gave the impression of preferring shadows and loneliness. Rated by his own neighbors as an “misfit,” young Tim grew up surrounded by his imaginary friends, low-budget terror and science fiction. His passion for animation and character design led him to work for Disney and eventually develop his own style, before becoming a symbol of the counterculture.
