translated from Spanish: With time capsule and neighborhood party was laid the first stone of the future Brazil Park

“Today is a day that the Great Ones will not forget. The day we put the first stone to an emblematic park for our commune, a place we always dreamed for our neighbors, for our families, for our children. A place that was beautiful, meeting, a place that will definitely improve the quality of life of our commune,” said the mayor of La Granja, Felipe Delpin, during the laying ceremony of the first stone of the new Parque Brasil.
The activity was attended by the Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, Cristián Monckeberg; the Intendenta de Santiago, Karla Rubilar; guest mayors, leaders and neighbors of La Granja. “The redevelopment of Parque Brasil seemed to us from the beginning a great municipal idea and has all our support,” said Minister Monckeberg, who highlighted Mayor Delpin’s involvement in the initiative.
Time capsule
One of the most emotional moments of the ceremony was starred children from the children’s gardens of the commune, who embodied in colorful drawings their dreams about the Brazil Park in the future. These drawings were deposited in a time capsule, for future generations to see in 100 more years.
“Children are our future and are an important part of this activity. We want them to learn to respect the environment and that in the future, their children and grandchildren, will be taught the importance of preserving the planet and taking care of parks, such as Parque Brasil,” explained the mayor, who placed the capsule in the first official excavation done at the scene.
Parque Brasil has an approximate area of 51 hectares, belonging to Serviu Metropolitano, where an area of 37.9 há is currently managed by La Municipalidad de La Granja, who designed the remodeling project. In fact, in its center is located the Interactive Museum Mirador, generating an perimeter area of services and activities that, thanks to the management of Mayor Felipe Delpin, was able to be realized from 2019.
