translated from Spanish: Francisco Frei Ruiz-Tagle resigns Christian Democracy

Ahead of the decision that Christian Democracy was going to make, Francisco Frei Ruiz-Tagle presented this day his resignation to the militancy of the collective.
The DC, after the self-reportofing of former President Eduardo Frei Ruiz-Tagle’s brother for a series of financial fraud, said he would suspend his militancy while investigating the event.
The youngest of the Frei Ruiz-Tagle brothers announced his decision by means of a letter sent to the party’s board, in which he did not refer to the controversial family situation.
In this regard, the national secretary of the DC, David Morales, noted that “it is a rather unfortunate situation that is happening, and yesterday, in the afternoon, we received the letter from Francisco Frei renouncing the militancy. It does not give arguments, but for strictly personal reasons.”
“We value the fact that he made things easier, because from the point of view of the partisan duties, he was in an infraction since, when he does his denouncing act, what he does is recognize responsibility and from the internal point of view of the facilitates the situation,” he said, in statements collected by El Dynamo.
