This year, the second version of the “Inclusion Challenge” increased the challenge among innovators and entrepreneurs. The proposal, devise or develop a project that allows the employment inclusion of persons with disabilities.
The glove was collected by 50 innovators, but only 12 were selected to exhibit their project on September 7, at Mapocho Station, with the aim of convincing the jury that their project is viable and that it will allow to insert part of this segment of 2.8 million people in the world of work.
The award will be held this Saturday, September 7 at 11:00 hours and will be attended by the Under-Secretary of Social Services, Sebastián Villarreal, the Seremi of the Metropolitan Region of Social Development, Catherine Rodríguez, as well as representatives of the world of innovation.
Selected projects include national and international proposals:
Exosuit is a device of American origin that helps people with disabilities become independent of caregivers by performing simple everyday activities of life, with sensors that measure the user’s progress. Noteikin is an easy-to-use, portable, low-cost digital braille writing pen that transfers notes to cell phones and computers by converting braille into standard text. It also communicates in a voice the writing.
Qr Accessible is an application, that allows to solve access to written information for people who do not speak Spanish as a first language, and for people with visual and hearing impairments, facilitating access to information in different languages languages, through a QR code.
Bike Lite is a system that provides safety for both cyclists and people with reduced mobility or wheelchairs, as it delivers community reports on infrastructure status, pavement problems, elevator status or ramps Buildings. And from Brazil, another of the selected is Key2enable; the smart keyboard that allows people with physical and cognitive disabilities to navigate any computer or smartphone by connecting to a platform with audiovisual activities for any cognitive level.
Social impact, innovation and business model are the three criteria occupied by the Inclusion Challenge selection committee.
The jury consists of six members, three men and three women, from various incubators “+Inclusion”, Colab UC, Center for Social Innovation of the Catholic University of Valparaiso, IF Chile and About Networks, of the University of Concepción. This team will be joined by specialists from Accenture and Walmart, who will choose the three best Pitchands who will deliver specialized advice to the first place in this contest.
The award will be held at 11:00 hours and will close with the presentation of the renowned astronomer, astrophysicist and national science award José Maza, who will talk about how to enhance the integration of people with disabilities helps us to grow in science and technology.
