The cetacean sighting expedition involved the National Commission of Protected Natural Areas (Conanp), the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), the environmental organization Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, the Museum of Whale and Marine Sciences, in with researchers from the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California Sur.
The United Nations emphasized that the marine species takes refuge at depths of 20 to 40 meters in areas of strong tides and is not very easy to locate although it lives in a widely located area.
It is estimated that there could currently be between six and 20 copies, therefore the importance of their monitoring and the work carried out by Dr. Lorenzo Rojas Bracho, president of the International Committee for the Recovery of the Vaquita (Cirva).
