Historical context
The alliance of left-wing parties known as Popular Unity led socialist Salvador Allende to the presidency of Chile in 1970. From the outset, the popular government, hand in hand with hundreds of organizations of settlers and settlers, students, workers, workers, peasants and peasants, worked to build its own path to socialism, cornered between Soviet authoritarianism and Western capitalism. In this effort of political imagination, theatre and the arts took to the streets, while in the workplace grew the awareness that the future was in the hands of the people. But these thousand days of popular holidays, of conflict and utopias, did not ignite only the aspirations of the Chilean people. Thousands of enthusiasts from around the world felt this call of history and mobilized to contribute ideas and be present in building a particular democratic socialism in the world context.
