Jullien has stood out for weighing crucial issues of Western tradition through intimate contact with Chinese thought and language. He does so from an intellectual gaze that gives him his dual status as a philosopher and a sinologist.
Between the languages and philosophies of China and Europe, Julien draws, from a “living” perspective, the essential “Being” of classical Greek thought. Beyond the philosophical realm and its Orientalism, Julien has aroused a growing interest among diverse audiences, in the world of managmen, psychology and the arts.
“Change is not what manifests itself when there is an apparent rupture, but is the consequence of a silent transformation from a subtle, almost imperceptible turn of which it is the result. What there is to change is a visible emergency of a long invisible process,” Jullien says.
The Gaul has published more than 35 works, among which are Fundar la morale, (Taurus, 1997); Praise of the Tasteless: from Chinese Aesthetics and Thought, (Siruela, 1998); Tao te king: book of course and virtue, (Siruela, 1998); and Of Time: Elements of a Philosophy of Living) Arena Books, 2005); among others.
This is the eighteenth version of the Cycles of Own Thought, a space of reflection and dialogue that during these 18 years has presented uninterrupted Hidden I BHP and which has had the participation of artists, scientists, philosophers, writers and urban planners, among other prominent exponents of different disciplines and knowledge.
