Mexico.- Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador was requested to respond on Friday to the accusations about alleged irregularities in government propaganda, together with the Welfare Secretary, María Luisa Albores and Gabriel García , coordinator of the delegates of the federal government, by the Technical Unit of Electoral Litigation (UTCE) of the National Electoral Institute (INE).
Officials must appear in person or in writing to the NSO offices to respond to the remarks made by the Democratic Revolution Party (PRD).
This party and his former deputy director and former federal deputy Rafael Hernández Estrada denounced on August 8 the alleged misuse of public resources for the personalized promotion of the federal executive and state officials through a strategy in which nearly 18,000 people would participate, among nation’s servers, super delegates and state welfare program coordinators.
One of the arguments put forward by the party is that the deliveries of resources and programs are not attributed to the federal government and on an institutional, but to President López Obrador and the officials who operate those programs, 60% of whom would be linked to Morena.
This would violate, according to the complaining party, article 134 of the Constitution states that any government propaganda must be institutional in nature and prohibits it from containing names, images, voices or symbols involving personalized promotion of any public servant.
