translated from Spanish: Agree to increase to the salary of IMSS workers

The 388,000 basic workers of the Mexican Social Security Institute will receive a 3.50% wage increase direct to the tabbed plus another 2.10% increase in benefits.
This Thursday, the result of two months of negotiations and dialogue between IMSS executives and leaders of the National Union of Social Security Workers (SNTSS) was unveiled with the signing of the contract and wage review agreement.
It was also disclosed that doctors, nurses, administrative and support staff earning less than 20,000 pesos will receive an additional increase. Thus, those who receive 10,000 pesos per month or less will enjoy an increase of 3%; for those who receive up to 15,000 pesos the increase will be 2%, while for workers with a pay of up to 20,000 pesos the additional increase will be 1%.
The agreement was signed by THE director general of IMSS, Zoé Robledo Aburto, and the general secretary of the National Executive Committee of the National Union of Social Security Workers, Arturo Olivares Cerda, and as a witness the Secretary of Labor and Social Welfare , Luisa María Alcalde Luján.
For Robledo, the signing of the Collective Labour Contract is not the result of further negotiation, nor can it be said that someone won or lost, because the big bet of the IMSS change of course is in trust to the working base, putting the rightholder at the centre of all actions.
“We have counted the course we want to follow, the course of resuming the 1943 Cardenist flag that gave rise to this institute, a state that declares itself ready to grant welfare, solidarity and social security to its entire population,” the official said .
In the meantime, Mayor highlighted the results of this dialogue between authorities and workers.
“We are in a time of transformation where dialogue prevails, not only in public life in general, but in the world of work,” he said.
