translated from Spanish: UAS signs collaboration agreement with joint institute for nuclear research

Mexico City.- Dr. Juan Eulogio Guerra Liera in his character as Rector of the Autonomous University of Sinaloa (UAS) and having as an honorary witness the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Mexico, Viktor V. Koronelli, signed an academic and joint Institute for Nuclear Research represented by the Deputy Director, Dr. Vladimir Kekelidze, at the Embassy facility.

The general objective of this memorandum of understanding is to develop theoretical-phenomenological models that allow the characterization of nuclear matter in high temperature and density conditions and is the official beginning of a collaboration that has been in the scientific field, the convention represents the institutional support of the various universities and research centres to which the researchers responsible for the Multipurpose Detector project belong to facilitate the Ion Collision and Nuclotrones (NICA) of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research.

The Universidad Autónoma de Sinaloa is part of the Consortium of five Mexican institutions (MexNICA) involved in this project, so that the agreement was also signed by the Vocero del Detector Multipurpose, Dr. Adam Kisiel and representatives of the National Autonomous Universities of Mexico (UNAM), Colima, Benemérita Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP), and CINVESTAV.

The Rector Guerra Liera pointed out at the end of the event that this agreement follows up a work that researchers and teachers of the UAS with a lot of effort have been positioning itself in the international field, and in this case it is the work of the teacher Isabel Domínguez Jiménez of the Faculty of Physical-Mathematical Sciences which opens these relations and allows the University, as well as participates for years in the European Centre for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Geneva, Switzerland, and in the Belle II detector in Japan, today enters project in Dubná, Russia.

“This is really a recognition of the teacher, a recognition to the University and positions the Autonomous University of Sinaloa in the field of an area of science extremely complicated, rare, with less specialized human capital; this allows us to be in conjunction with some research institutions in Russia, in Mexico, but also to open up the possibility of mobility, that our students know and our teachers can prepare, can make stays and this is what we have been pushing the institution,” Liera War said.

He indicated that the different academic units of Casa Rosalina have opened spaces that were not previously had, while the institution has state, national, and international leadership.

“This allows us to further project to the institution where it will share knowledge, work tables, workspaces with institutions with a long tradition in the scientific aspect, I repeat: this puts us to the Autonomous University of Sinaloa in an area of excellent opportunity; I thank teacher Isabel Dominguez for the fact that with her work she has made it possible for our university to present itself at the highest level of research,” she said.

The Rector considered that the objectives of this Convention and the project are far-reaching with the benefit of humanity.

The teacher Isabel Domínguez Jiménez, researcher at the Faculty of Physical-Mathematical Sciences, explained that it works in conjunction with the nuclear research laboratory in Dubná, Russia, where a detector is currently being developed multipurpose called MPD.

“We are part of that collaboration, we are going to incorporate a detector and we are participating in data analysis and simulation (…) there are few universities and it is very important to the UAS because it is an international experiment and is one of the great experiments that takes place worldwide (…) the agreement contributes directly with student training and participation of the researchers themselves and that is to equate the quality and performance of both teachers and students at the international level,” he stressed.

The Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Mexico, Viktor V. Koronelli, in interview wanted the university community of Casa Rosalina very successfully with this signing of agreement which will be nurtured with concrete content and urged them to continue to cooperate with their colleagues Russians, while during the event he said that it is an honor to welcome those present at the Embassy as the relationship between the two countries, Russia and Mexico, has a long history and continues to develop the relationship intensely in the economic political sphere , commercial and scientific.

“The signing of this memorandum means and confirms the relations and these advantageous ties in the field of science, and I hope that after this firm they will get the new practical content for both sides, I wish them new successes in the field of bilateral cooperation , to keep up with this pace,” he said.
