The rector of the University of Guadalajara and president of the Regional Session Central West, of the National Association of Universities and Institutions of Higher Education (ANUIES), Ricardo Villanueva Lomelí, noted that compensation to public universities about the economic decline they face.
In interview, during his visit to this capital, he noted that if this continued, there will be more and more universities in crisis, so inflation cannot be taken as a calculation to grant its resources.
In the last four years, there is an 8 percent less that has been received, about 17 billion pesos that have been no longer perceived by public universities. Today these institutions receive less than in 2015.
He welcomed the need for new universities, but not limited to existing ones. “Welcome any initiative of Higher Education, Benito Juárez, as long as we are not limited to others, that is supported by both, more money is required.”
He said there are 9 financial problems to pay payroll, 11 with deficits, so he urged the return of this year’s extraordinary resource exchanges.
