translated from Spanish: Javier Coello Zuarth ordered to be captured for alleged alteration of evidence in complicity with Interpol Mexico and SEIDO

The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) obtained an arrest warrant against lawyer Javier Coello Zuarth for the alleged alteration of official documents and expert evidence, in a case where the authorities claim that he had the complicity of four Interpol Mexico and who was in charge of the SEIDO Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Gualberto Ramírez Gutiérrez.
Court sources confirmed to Animal Político the arrest order, for allegedly tampering with evidence to frame a Jalisco family with drug trafficking activities and to remove custody of their children from a woman.
On 31 October, the newspaper Reforma reported that four Interpol agents were linked to criminal proceedings for the alleged manipulation of documents and expert evidence, as part of a divorce dispute between a well-known former businessman Grupo Modelo and his wife, whose family was fabricated in a series of evidence to charge them with qualified theft, sexual abuse and organized crime.
In the case of the lady, according to the sources consulted, her husband charged her with the theft of three bottles of wine, but the suspicion of the woman’s legal defense is that based on the “payment of bribes” the case was turned over to the old criminal justice system , this in order for the crime to be aggravated and not to reach bail.
Judicial sources confirmed that the arrest warrant against Coello Zuarth, who is one of the lawyers of former Pemex director Emilio Lozoya, is related to the case of the four Interpol agents tried last Thursday.
According to another source close to the case, Coello Zuarth was one of the lawyers who asked the lady to sign a document to cede custody of her children, in exchange for her husband’s forgiveness.
Once released, however, the Lady filed a criminal complaint against the former shareholder of Grupo Modelo.
In response, the lady’s husband accused her in-laws of child sexual abuse, while the woman’s two brothers were assigned arrest warrants for alleged drug trafficking activities. At the home of one of them, interpol’s agents even planted suitcases with money and drugs.
According to Reforma, at the hearing where Interpol Mexico’s 4 agents were linked to prosecution, the Internal Affairs area of the FGR ensured that the record of the two brothers accused of drug trafficking “was manufactured”, as the then in charge of the Unit Anti-kidnapping of the SEIDO, Gualberto Ramírez Gutiérrez, “used trades of the Internal Security (ICE) and Alcohol, Tobacco and Arms Agencies of the United States, to request both requests for telephone intervention and cateos against the family” wife of the businessman.
On June 25, an investigation of Political Animal and Quinto Elemento Lab revealed that the former director of Pemex, Emilio Lozoya, legally fugitive from justice and alleged involved in money laundering and corruption, has as defenders the same lawyers who for four years have been the legal guardians of Alejandro Gertz Manero, the attorney general in charge of investigating the former official: Javier Coello Trejo and his son Javier Coello Zuarth.
According to the investigation, in 2015 Gertz Manero granted extensive power to Coello lawyers to file a criminal complaint in his name and investigate the deterioration of health and subsequent death of his brother Federico, who died at the age of 82. Interviewed separately, the lawyers and the prosecutor himself denied a possible conflict of interest in these facts.
“It’s a matter alien to me”
Interviewed by Animal Político, the lawyer acknowledged that there is an arrest warrant against him, but said he was unaware of the motive for the accusations against him.
“I don’t want to talk until I have access to the prosecution… but what I can tell you is that you’re trying to impute me in a divorce trial that I’m bringing, but it’s a matter outside of me.”
The lawyer claimed that he ran an amparo lawsuit, which he hopes to win in the next few hours.
On 24 October, Coello Zuarth brought an appeal against the apprehension order, and initially obtained a provisional stay after paying 49,000 pesos, but on 31 October a judge denied him the final stay.
On November 2nd, as part of the initial hearing of Gilda Austin de Lozoya (mother of Emilio Lozoya), where he was linked to prosecution for the crimes of criminal association and money laundering, lawyer Coello Zuarth, who leads the criminal strategy of the case , was one of the absentees of this hearing held in the federal courts of the Reclusorio Norte.
