Culiacan, Sinaloa.- Two persons charged by the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Sinaloa, for the offences of express kidnapping and theft of vehicle, were sentenced in an abbreviated procedure to a prison sentence for 33 years 4 months. Meliton “G” and Briseida “C” must pay a fine of $235,662.20; in addition to the damage repair for $202,749 pesos, according to criminal case 1242/2019 and its cumulative 754/2018.

Both convicted were accused of committing the crimes reported against Marisol “U”, a case for which this constitutional autonomous body initiated the corresponding acts of investigation, once the commission of a probable crime was made known.
Through the work carried out by experts, police investigators and the institution of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the necessary data, elements and means of proof were integrated to verify, beyond reasonable doubt, the responsibility of the defendants. During the abbreviated procedure hearing, held today 6 November 2019, the judicial authority responsible for the criminal case determined that the two were responsible for committing the offences of express hijacking and vehicle theft, and therefore imposed the penalty of custodial sentence.
