translated from Spanish: Association of Municipalities will carry out citizen consultation on new Constitution in 330 communes

The assembly of the Chilean Association of Municipalities (ACHM) approved to send its board to conduct a national consultation to determine whether or not the citizenship is in accordance with a new Constitution.
According to information from Cooperativa, 170 mayors and councillors, of the 330 communes that make up the ACHM, voted in favor of this mechanism that also seeks to collect other demands from the mobilizations that have rocked the country for three weeks.
So far, it has not been defined whether the process will be carried out in a traditional way or through digital voting, as proposed by the mayor of Peñalolén, Carolina Leitao (DC), but they requested that the Government be part of the consultation, as the mayors will assume the Logistics.
In that vein, the mayor of Renca, Claudio Castro, argued through his Twitter account that Parliament and the Government must react with a national plebiscite. The authority added that the consultation would be scheduled to take place on 7 and 8 December.
However, opposition mayors could subtract themselves from the instance, as they pointed out to the Minister of Social Development, Sebastián Sichel, who went to AChM to channel citizen dialogues.
