Morelia, Michoacán.- The deputy emanated from Morena, Fermín Bernabé Bahena stressed the importance of the Congress of Michoacán continuing to assist in the democratic strengthening of the entity, through constitutional reforms that expand participation citizen in political decision-making.

“Today an important step is being taken to continue working on enhancing the democratic scheme of our state, considering the relevance of citizens having the power to remove their rulers when their results are not as expected,” he said.

Unlike other impeachment procedures, such as impeachment, the Morenist legislator stated that, “the revocation of mandate is decided at the ballot box by the same electoral body that appointed the public official and does not involve legal action that requires due process guarantees.”

In the same vein, it reiterated that its legislative work would be permanently linked to promoting actions aimed at strengthening citizen participation in Michoacán, in order to ensure a transparent and inclusive democratic exercise.

Bernabé Bahena concluded by noting that, “it is our duty as legislators and representatives of society, to meet their demands and to ensure their rights within a participatory democracy, which is why consultation must be a tool to achieve effective citizen participation in the definition of the most important public policies.”
