translated from Spanish: For the second time, Michoacán’s Health Secretary misses a hearing before deputies

Naomi Carmona
Morelia, Michoacán.- The appearance of the Ministry of Health of Michoacán, Diana Carpio Ríos, before the Health and Social Assistance Commission scheduled for this day, was suspended in the absence of a quorum and the absence of the state official.
This is the second time that that hearing has to be rescheduled, since the first one to be held on 31 October was also suspended.
Through a document, the only two members of the Commission present – María del Refugio Cabrera Hermosillo and Yarabí Avila González – were informed that the Ministry of Health will not attend the parliamentary building, without explanation or justification. The chairperson of the Committee merely mentioned that the absence of the civil servant was due to agenda reasons.

Yarabi Avila highlighted the low understanding between the Executive and Legislative powers to work as a team, so he invited to share responsibilities on an issue as important as the health of the Michoacans.

“The health issue is fundamental; a healthy society that has access to health services is a society that will have results. We have to unite and work, not necessarily through the arraignments, rather through empathy and sensitivity.”

Among the topics intended to be played at this Tuesday’s meeting are:
National sieve testing and how they are carried out on the entity.
Actions on hemorrhagic dengue.
Advances on the campaign against drug addiction and alcoholism.
Status of drug supply in hospitals and health centers.
Lack of personnel such as radiologists, imaging ologists, anesthesiologists, and rehabilitation.
Hospital infrastructure works.
The Commission will discuss a forthcoming date for reconsumption of Diana Carpio’s appearance, as the meeting was also missing by Deputies Osiel Equihua Equihua, Zenaida Salvador Brígido and Salvador Arvizu Cisneros.
