Magistrate Isidro Avelar Gutiérrez, who faces a complaint of heritage irregularities and additional income, was arrested on Friday in the city of Guadalajara.
The Council of the Federal Judiciary (CJF) reported that the magistrate is being transferred to Mexico City by agents of the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic.
In a bulletin, the CJF detailed that the complaint against Avelar Gutiérrez was filed on 24 May and on Friday the arrest warrant was finally executed.
“The commitment of this CJF has been and will be the zero tolerance to corruption. With actions, not speeches, the CJF is advancing in a commitment to make the Federation Judiciary a strong and reliable institution for the population,” they add.

The Minister-President of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, Arturo Zaldivar, highlighted the arrest of Minister Avelar Gutiérrez and expressed his appreciation for the work of the FGR and the Ministry of Citizen Security.

Isidro Avelar Gutiérrez has served as judicial officer of the Third District Court in Criminal Matters in the State of Jalisco; secretary of the First District Court in Criminal Matters of Jalisco; District Judge in Criminal Matters of Jalisco; Magistrate at the Third Collegiate Court of the Twenty-First Circuit; Judge of the Seventh Unitary Circuit Court of the Auxiliary Center of the Third Region with Residence in Guadalajara; and since 2000 he has held the position of Circuit Magistrate.
