translated from Spanish: Vegan market grows in Chile: there are already more than 300 certified products in the country

2019 has been a great year for animal lovers and their care. Through Fundación Vegetarianos Hoy about 150 products and more than 20 brands, both national and international, have been certified, which have been committed to a more sustainable and animal-friendly future.
Following the same line, by 2020 they hope to double the figure and increase the market chances for the country’s vegan population, which is increasing day by day.
Although many companies currently label their products as vegans they do not follow the requirements or parameters that should be able to be determined as plant-based. So what does it mean that something is vegan? For Vegetarians Today are products that in their manufacture do not use any ingredients of animal origin. Therefore, they may not contain eggs, milk, honey, wool, snail or other by-product from animals.
It is also important to note that at no time can it have been tested on animals, both the final result and its processes.
Certification
Today, within the country there are two types of vegan certifications that accredit this type of products: V-Label and Vegan Seal.
“Fundación Vegetarianos Hoy is the only national organization that has a license to deliver the V-Label in Chile and Latin America. One year after their arrival in Chile we are very happy with the reception of both vegan people and brands who have taken the initiative to certify and expand the 100% vegetable market”, says Ignacia Uribe, general director of the organization.
Since the foundation, they explain that V-Label, of Swiss origin, has internationally recognized and with more than 20,000 currently certified products. Its well-known green V with a leaf on the right side has become a hallmark that lately have integrated brands such as Starbucks, Mia Luna, Rika, among others.
All are available in the Plan V app, developed by the foundation to help people change their lifestyle in a healthy way. This app is completely free, and is available for iOS and Android devices.
