translated from Spanish: Culiacan Valiente calls for action and resource to combat violence

Sinaloa.- After organizing the peaceful March Culiacán Valiente as a result of the events of violence that took place in the city last 17 October, the Collective of the same name, issued a series of petitions to the State Congress, to allocated resources in the implementation of strategies to combat violence. The members of the Collective, reported, seek to promote strong actions and proposals to protect all those, who are constantly vulnerable because of the high rates of violence of the municipality and in turn, those who suffered damage and they were victims of shootings carried out by groups armed by various sectors of the city.

Among the proposals, the legislative for the budget allocation to associations and organizations dedicated to promoting and preventing actions related to combating violence, as well as public rescue and citizen participation, is called upon. In turn, they call for the creation of a citizen strategy involving specialists, civil associations and various government orders to reduce rates of violence and promote social integration.
It is proposed to the Legislature to declare 17 October as the state date Against Fear and Violence, given the important events of that day, which were made known at the international level. The collective member, Esteban, considered that, more than the month of so-called Black Thursday, the government authorities have not taken any blunt action and have shown no interest in reactions as a result of the past, not even for those who could happen in the future.

He added that, the current Commission on Victim Care should act in protection for those who suffered material losses and loved ones during the shootings, and the State Congress should also decide on a significant allocation of resources to this organ.
