translated from Spanish: They will increase property tax for all municipalities of Sinaloa

Culiacán, Sinaloa.- The Commission on Finance and Administration of the State Congress ruled to update the cadastral values of the municipalities by 2.5 percent according to the inflation rate. After several days of discussion, the local Members managed to agree that the increase in land use values in all municipalities would be in such a percentage, regardless of the proposals of the Municipalities.

The chairwoman of that committee, María Victoria Sánchez, stated that, contrary to what happened last year, the property tax will now not be frozen, since it was considered that, the municipalities must have a form of collection greater than the previous year, guaranteed, through the payment of property tax. He said that, the proposal was conceived with the chair of the Political Coordination Board and coordinator of the Morena bench, Graciela Domínguez Nava, who the previous year opposed the updating of the property tax, to fulfill the mission of the Fourth Transformation not to increase taxes.
The legislator, also from Morena, commented that, the 2.5 per cent increase in the property tax is intended to be annual, so in 2020 the Commission will seek to reform the Law on Finance so that the cadastral tables are automatically updated according to inflation rates.
